Choosing the right bank and opening a bank account in a completely new country are two very important things. We made a little research with the help of ABANKA to help you out with the most common questions!
WHAT KIND OF A BANK ACCOUNT DO I NEED?
To open a personal account you need an identification document (passport) and Slovenian and foreign tax numbers. Non-residents usually open an “Aračun” electron personal account (without regular monthly salary inflows). So if you will only have occasional inflows, “Aračun” electron is suitable for you. You can also use it as a Visa debit card.
An account is opened in the physical presence of the customer with an identification document (passport). You need to provide foreign and Slovenian tax numbers, permanent and temporary addresses and documents on the origin of the funds. You can open an account at Abanka’s offices throughout Slovenia. The fee for management of a non-resident “Aračun” electronic account is 2.20 EUR a month. For this type of account you don’t need a minimum deposit or a certain frequency of deposits. You also don’t need regular monthly salary inflows.
CAN YOU EXPLAIN US MORE ABOUT ONLINE BANKING?
You can apply for Abanet internet banking or Abamobi mobile bank in any Abanka office.
For Abanet internet banking, which you can use on your computer, you need a digital certificate, which you can order at Abanka. You will get a reference number in the mail, and an authorisation code is then sent to your address in Slovenia or to an Abanka branch office, if you don’t have an address in Slovenia.
Abamobi mobile bank for both Android and iOS systems lets you transact with Abanka anywhere you are. You log into the Abamobi mobile bank using an m-token, which together with your selected PIN ensures secure use. You can then gain access to several services that save you time and money:
- execution and review of domestic and cross-border payment orders;
- the useful PhotoPay functionality allows you to capture data from a paper payment order using a camera;
- transfer of funds between accounts included in the Abamobi mobile bank;
- review of account balances.
